What to order
Our story
It is the word Afghans say before you eat — the way others say bon appétit. We chose it because it is the first thing we want you to hear when you walk in.
When we opened on North Waverly Road, there was nowhere in Michigan to eat this food. Families who grew up on it had to cook it themselves or go without. So we built a kitchen around the grill and started cooking.
Afghanistan’s national dish, and the clearest expression of what our kitchen does. Brown basmati steamed with caramelised carrot and raisin over slow-cooked meat — sweet, savoury and deeply aromatic all at once.
Order the Bolani alongside it. Flatbread stuffed with spiced potato, fried until blistered, served with yogurt and mint. Everyone finishes it.
